Our training programs are ideal for:
About ASNT
The American Society for Nondestructive Testing (ASNT) is the world's largest professional society for nondestructive testing (NDT), serving as a global leader in education, certification, standards, and professional development.
Who should Enroll:
NDT Technicians and Inspectors
Quality Assurance and Quality Control Professionals
Engineers in Oil & Gas, Energy, Construction, Manufacturing, and Infrastructure
Organizations looking to upskill and develop their NDT workforce
Workshops will meet the region's growing demand for advanced NDT training, particularly within the oil and gas, energy, and industrial sectors. Each workshop combines classroom instruction with hands-on practical exercises, allowing participants to build real-world skills in just two to three days and return to work ready to apply what they've learned. Workshop offerings will focus on advanced ultrasonic testing (UT) inspection techniques used for weld integrity assessment, materials evaluation, corrosion monitoring, and damage detection, with additional specialized courses planned.
This course provides a practical introduction to Automated Ultrasonic Testing (AUT) using the Zonal Discrimination Technique for pipeline and pressure piping girth weld inspection. Participants will learn the principles of zone-based inspection, automated scanning systems, scan planning, and defect detection in accordance with industry standards such as ASTM E1961 and API 1104. The course covers probe configurations, data acquisition, and interpretation of AUT data, while highlighting the advantages of zonal discrimination over conventional ultrasonic and radiographic inspection methods. It is ideal for UT/PAUT/TOFD inspectors, welding engineers, inspection engineers, and quality professionals involved in pipeline construction and integrity management.
Learning Outcomes:
Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to:
- Understand the principles of Zonal Discrimination Technique and its application in automated girth weld inspection.
- Identify common weld defects, inspection zones, and select appropriate probes, wedges, scanners, and scan plans.
- Interpret AUT data, including A-scan, B-scan, TOFD, strip chart, transverse, and coupling channels for defect evaluation.
- Apply industry best practices, standards, reporting requirements, and recognize the advantages of AUT over conventional UT and radiographic testing.
